PRESIDENT’S LETTER

As we leave 2004 and begin 2005, we thank our 2004 SVRWF President Laura Riffle and her team for a job well done.

Silicon Valley Republican Women Federated begin 2005 with our regular luncheon meeting January 6 at the Ramada Inn Silicon Valley.  Our speaker will be Santa Clara County Supervisor Don Gage. Supervisor Gage is the only supervisor that is a Republican on the Board of Supervisors.  He will speak on the Santa Clara County budget.  He will explain the “god and bad” of our county budget and then answer your questions.  This promises to be a very informative and educational meeting.

On January 20, 2005, at Noontime (EST) President George W. Bush will be inaugurated.  President Bush’s inaugural theme will be “CELEBRATING FREEDOM – HONORING SERVICE”, and this will be the 55th presidential inauguration.  Many of you were at our regular night meeting September 2, which was scheduled as a “Bush Party” and we watched and listened to President Bush accept the nomination at the New York City Republican Convention.  While we were inside, the Democrats had demonstrators in front of the hotel.  Take heart, California helped Bush get elected with contributions, and someday we will again be a red state.

2005 promises to be a good year and I wish each of you the very best for Christmas and the New Year.  Hope to see you at our January 6 meeting.

Many thanks to Shirley and Jim Harvey for handling the production of this newsletter so well for the past eight years but, more importantly, I want to thank them for passing on their knowledge to Ed and I and volunteering to help us over the inevitable hurdles we will face in taking on this awesome responsibility.

- Laura Riffle

A Note From The Treasurer…

To speed up check in at the luncheon, it would help if each member would pay by check.  It will make accounting easier and eliminate the need to bring an unknown amount of change.  Please have your check already written prior to coming to the luncheon.  Of course, cash is always welcome, but please try to have the $16.00 correct change.

- Carol Greenleaf - Treasurer

Text Box: "Bill Clinton was walking through Central Park this week and a crowd gathered and began to ask him questions. And some one interrupted and said 'You were an embarrassment to the office of commander and chief.' Clinton fought right back and said 'Honey can we save this till we get home.'" --Jay Leno

KERRY CONCEDES ELECTION

We know that this news is a little old but many people suffer from post-holiday letdown this time of year so we figure if you’re feeling a little blue this mid-winter month, you can just turn to this newsletter, open it up and feel all warm and fuzzy.  2004 was a great year for our party, wasn’t it?
