SILICON VALLEY REPUBLICAN WOMEN FEDERATED NEWSLETTER Diamond Award ClubSEPTEMBER 2004 President: Laura Ann Riffle 263-0990 1st V.P & Program: Doris Whitney 997-0581 2nd V.P. Alice Story 733-3248 Shirley. Harvey Newsletter Editor (408) 253-1591 PRESIDENT’S LETTER Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. Now it’s back to work and on to Republican victories in November. Be sure to attend the SVRWF “Party for the President” to be held on September 2 at 6pm at the Sunnyvale / Silicon Valley Ramada. We’ll have a TV to watch President Bush accept our party’s nomination for the presidency. We’ll have some bumper stickers and other “collateral material” available, as well. Voter registration is key to Republican victories in November. It is possible that George W. Bush could take California… but only if we get more Republicans registered! Wouldn’t it be great if we also took some Senate and Assembly seats in the Bay Area? It’s only possible with increased Republican registrations. This election season is particularly good for registrations. The higher bounties being offered in targeted districts in our area will help with raising funds for our club. A few days ago, we received our first bounty check… for $145.50. Not bad for our first check! Registering Republicans can be fun! You meet some great people and can get a real feeling of satisfaction when you get a new voter or a Democrat or DTS re-registering in the GOP. Besides, the mall is well air-conditioned and shopping before or after your shift can also be rewarding. We need volunteers. Our club has been assigned to Valley Fair Shopping Center. We will be covering it through October. Here are the dates… August 21, September 4, September 18, October 2. All are Saturdays. Please CALL ME to volunteer. (408)-263-0990. I hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with relaxation and fun. See you at the SVRWF “Party for the President” – 6pm, September 2 – Ramada Sunnyvale / Silicon Valley. Upcoming… our Region VIII mini-conference will be held at the Ramada Sunnyvale on October 7th from 10am until 2pm. Shirley Harvey has invited some great guests including Bill Jones and Duf Sundheim. Please plan to attend for all or part of the day. Laura Riffle President Silicon Valley Republican Women Federated **************************** PARTY FOR THE PRESIDENT
